The main purpose of our trip was to attend a memorial service for a friend of Reinard's, Jay Zarht Freed. Jay passed away in January, but the memorial was held July 1, which is Jay's birthday and Jay's and Trish's 10th wedding anniversary. VegFest 2005

Had a great time at VegFest today. We saw Dennis Kucinich and Howard Lyman, ate yummy vegan food, visited various booths and played!

Autumn's Relative visits from Japan

Autumn's Grandmother's cousin visited recently from Japan, bringing Autumn lots of gifts, including a "Hamtaro" hat and bank. We got to try out what little Japanese we knew while she was here.

Terra's First Visit to the Zoo

Reinard had a day off of work this week, so we all decided to go visit the zoo, since Terra had never been.

She was delighted with all the animals she saw, squealing with happiness, pointing, and laughing.

Iraq Anniversary Protest

Reinard, Jenni and Terra marched in the Iraq anniversay protest. Jenni performed with Pom Poms Not Bomb Bombs, and got interviewed for channel 5 news, although we don't think it made it into the story segment.

Reinard helps to organize successful fundraiser

Reinard helped to organize a fundraiser for the ACLU. The guest speaker was Ambassador Joseph Wilson, whose wife was outed as a CIA operative by the Bush Administration.

While there was only seating enough for about 250 people, there were more than 300 people who attended the event.

Autumn's First Public Performance at the Art Stroll

At Autumn's school's annual art stroll on Friday, Autumn had a chance to perform for the first time in public with her guitar. She played "Wipe Out" and did very well!

St. Patrick's Day Parade

Last Saturday our family had the opportunity to march in the St. Patrick's Day Parade here in Salt Lake City. We marched with the "Peace O' Utah" contingent. Autumn helped to pass out "Declaration of Human Rights" booklets and candy along the parade route. Jenni marched with the radical cheerleaders, and Reinard pushed Terra in the stroller and helped Tom with the giant Peace Dove.

It was a very warm day for Salt Lake in March -- a little too warm. We got pretty heated by the end of the parade route.

Sadly, everyone that was there was so busy with some task or other that I don't think any pictures got taken.

Update: It turns out there were a few pics taken, mostly before the parade. They are posted at http://www.gput.org/stpatday.shtml.
